SOLUTION FOCUSED HYPNOTHERAPY
Struggling With Depression?
We can all have ‘off days’ when we are not quite feeling ourselves and we might be experiencing something known as low mood, but we can generally bounce back from this quite quickly.
However, if your low mood persists for a long period of time, making it difficult for you to function normally or cope with day to day life, you may begin to feel disconnected, withdrawing from family and friends and feeling out of touch with society in general.
Depression is quite common, and it can vary from mild to moderate, or very severe, and the severity can often be diagnosed by how much it is affecting the individual’s daily life and relationships with others. When someone is depressed it can be difficult for them to interact with others or explain how or why they are feeling this way, but many will describe feelings of numbness, emptiness and worthlessness. They might feel irritable and desperate or have thoughts about self-harming or even contemplate suicide.
There are different types of depression which can include:
Seasonal affective disorder (SAD). This is when a person’s mood can be affected by the seasons and it tends to affect people during the winter months when there are less daylight hours.
Bipolar Disorder is when a person experiences extreme highs and lows and their mood can go from euphoric to extremely low and depressed.
Pre-natal depression occurs during pregnancy and Postnatal depression occurs after the baby is born, and while this usually effects the mother due to a combination of fatigue and hormonal changes, it can also effect the father or parental partner too as a result of lifestyle changes and the pressures of parenthood.
Signs of depression may include some of the following:
Sadness, low self-esteem and social avoidance
Poor concentration/lack of focus at school, or in the workplace
Insomnia/poor sleep patterns
Loss of appetite or unhealthy eating habits/overeating
Fatigue, lack of energy and physical aches and pains
Loss of libido/sexual problems
Self-harming and/or suicidal thoughts
HOW HYPNOTHRAPY CAN HELP
There are many things that can be attributed to the onset of depression and some can be from childhood experiences such as abuse or trauma, unstable upbringing or the loss of a parent at an early age. Redundancy or the breakdown of a long-term relationship or having to move away from an area you have lived most of your life, leaving behind family and friends. Drugs, alcohol abuse and gambling habits are also strong factors attributed to depression
Hypnotherapy can help you to overcome your depression and to move forward in a positive way, focusing on and achieving the outcome you desire, so that you can get your life back on track and become the very best version of yourself.
